10/13/02 - Lake Delavan - Clear, 38 degrees, winds NW at 10 mph. Water temp 61
degrees. Caught 10 walleyes - 2 legal. Drifted fat head minnows on lindy rigs
in 19 ft. of water. All of the fish were caught between 6 am and 7:30 am. Only
had 1 1/2 hour to fish.
10/12/02 - Lake Delavan - Partly cloudy, temp 60 degrees, winds SW at 15 mph. Water
temp 61 degrees. Caught 25 walleyes - 2 legal. Drifted the south shore in
17-22 ft. of water with fat head minnows fished on a split shot or lindy rig. Most
of the fish came before 9 am.
10/9/02 - Lake Delavan - Night - clear with temps around 66 degrees. Water temp 61
degrees. Casted husky jerks for approximately 1 hour with little success.
10/6/02 - Lake Delavan - Cloudy, 60 degrees, winds 20 mph out of the west. Water
temp 65 degrees. Caught 5 walleyes, 2 small mouth, 3 large mouth and 1 northern - 35
inches. Fished night crawlers and fat head minnows drifting from Browns Channel to
the Oriental boat house. Fishing was kind of slow. The strong winds made
several spots on the lake un-fishable. The northern was caught on a sucker free
swimming over the side of the boat, in 18 ft. of water. Had two others hit but they
short stroked it.
10/5/02 - Lake Delavan - Partly Cloudy, 60 degrees, winds out of the west at 10 mph.
Water temp 65 degrees. Caught 25 walleyes - 7 legals. Fished the south
shore line in 20 ft. of water, drifting night crawlers on lindy rigs. The fish were
active until about 9:30 am then they completely shut off.
9/30/02 - Lake Geneva - Sunny, 65 degrees, winds SW at 15-20 mph. Water temp 65
degrees. Caught 3 large mouth - 1 legal and 3 small mouth - 1 legal and plenty of
rock bass. Due to the strong winds most of the lake was un-fishable. Had the
best action by the Military Academy. Tried Fontana Beach without much success and
Abbey Springs only held a few rock bass. All the fish were caught on night crawlers,
the best depth was 10 ft. of water.
9/29/02 - Lake Delavan - Cloudy, 70 degrees, winds S at 10 mph. Water temp 67
degrees. Caught 15 walleyes, 2 legal. All of the fish were caught on lindy rigged
night crawlers in 22 ft. of water. Drifted most of the south shore from Del Mar to
Browns Channel. Only fished for about 2 hours.
9/28/02 - Lake Geneva - Sunny, 63 degrees, winds SE at 10-12 mph. Water temp 68
degrees. Caught 5 large mouth - 3 legal, and 2 northern pike - the largest was 31
inches. The large mouth were caught in 10-13 ft. of water. The best spot was
Cedar Point to Coleman's Point. Caught all of the fish on night crawlers.
Tried Northern Pike fishing and caught both fish off of Conference Point in 35 ft. of
water. The bar in Williams Bay and Gage Marine were not successful.
9/22/02 - Lake Delavan - Cloudy, 62 degrees, winds W at 10 mph. Water temp 71 degrees.
Caught 7 large mouth - 1 was 4 1/2 pounds, 5 walleyes, 1 small mouth and a few
bluegills. Caught all of the fish on night crawlers fished on a split shot rig.
The bass were caught right on the break in 13-15 ft. of water. The walleyes
came out of water at least 20 ft. deep. Had a few northern strikes, they tore up the
bait but never got hooked.
9/21/02 - Lake Geneva - Afternoon - Sunny, 74 degrees, N winds at 10 mph. Water temp
72 degrees. Caught 13 northerns, the largest was 31 inches. Caught most
of the fish on the Williams Bay bar in 39-40 ft. of water. Lindy rigged suckers
produced all the action. One fish was caught off of Cedar Point and a small mouth
bass was caught at Gage Marine. Both fish were caught in 35 ft. of water.
9/21/02 - Lake Geneva - Morning - 70 degrees, sunny, SW wind at 10 mph turning calm.
Water temp 71 degrees. Caught 8 large mouth - 2 legal, 2 small mouth and lots
of pan fish. Fished 11-12 ft. of water from Cedar Point to Coleman's Point.
Most of the bass came early in the morning in low light conditions. Tried for them
by Linn Pier without success. Knollwood produced only small pan fish.
9/19/02 - Lake Delavan - cloudy, 65 degrees, winds SW at 12 mph. Water temp 72
degrees. Caught 28 walleyes, 3 legal and one short northern. Fished the south
shoreline from Browns Channel past the Oriental boathouse. The best depth was 22 ft.
of water. The fish were caught on split shot rigs with night crawlers and by casting
crank baits towards the weed line.
9/14/02 - Lake Geneva, sunny, 70 degrees, Winds SW at 10-15 mph. Water temp 76
degrees. Caught 3 large mouth, 2 legal. Fished the deep lines Carolina
rigging. Had a lot of fish hitting the chrome and blue chug bugs, however, they
wouldn't stay hooked up. I caught one fish and had 6 or 7 more hit the surface.
Fishing was very tough, there wasn't a true pattern on this day. I believe
the fish were shallow, however I didn't choose to fish there.
9/13/02 Delavan Lake - Sunny, 72 degrees, no wind. Water temp 75 degrees. Caught 1
walleye (legal), 4 largemouth, 2 small mouth and a few bluegills. All fish were
caught on nightcrawlers fished on the split shot. All the fish came out of the weeds
in 13-15 ft. of water. I caught no fish deeper than 20 ft. of water. Del-Mar
weedline produced most of the fish.
9/11/02 Delavan Lake - Sunny, 75 degrees, winds NE at 5 mph.
Water temp 76 degrees. Caught 6 walleyes - 1 legal, 3 largemouth and 10
crappies. Walleyes were caught on the weedline in 14-16 ft. of water. The best
bait were night crawlers fished on a lindy rig or split shot. Crappies were caught
off the weed line by Willow Point. Purple plastic twister tails seem to catch most
of the fish.
9/8/02 Delavan Lake - Sunny, 85 degrees and humid, light winds out of the SW.
Water temp 77 degrees. Caught 4 walleyes, 4 large mouth, 1 small mouth and a bunch
of perch. Walleyes were caught split shotting night crawlers in 17-20 ft. of
water. The best location was by Delmar subdivision pier. The bass were caught
by the Oriental boat house in 15 ft. of water. All fish were caught on night
crawlers. Tried northern fishing for about an hour without success, fished 17-22 ft.
of water. All the perch were caught in about 6 ft. of water. Fishing was slow
due to the high skies.
9/7/02 Lake Geneva - Afternoon, sunny, 88 degrees, no wind. Water temp 76 degrees.
Caught 7 northerns, the biggest one was 30 inches and one 18 inch large mouth. The
northerns were caught on the bar in Williams Bay and on Cedar Point in 35 ft. of
water. All were caught lindy rigging suckers. Some bass and panfish were
caught by Coleman's Point in 13 ft. of water. The best approach was split shotting
night crawlers.
9/7/02 Lake Geneva - morning, sunny, 85 degrees, no wind. Water temp 76 degrees.
Caught 3 large mouth, all legal, 2 small mouth, again both legal. The fish
were caught Carolina rigging, pumpkin seed/chartreuse zoom lizards. The best depth
seemed to be 15 ft. of water. The fish were really off and the retrieve needed to be
very slow.
9/6/02 Lake Delavan - Sunny, 80 degrees, winds SW at 5 mph. Water temp 77
degrees. Caught 3 walleyes in a little over an hour. I casted deep diving
crank baits on the weed line. The best lure was the deep diving fat free shad, shad color.
The best location was near the Oriental Boat house. I positioned the boat in
20 ft. of water, casting into 15 ft. of water.
8/28/02 Lake Delavan - Sunny, SE wind at 10 mph, 73 degrees. Water temp 78
degrees. Caught 4 northerns, 5 walleyes, and 2 large mouth bass. Fished crank
baits on the outside of the weed flats. The best location was by the gray condos and
Township Park. I used deep diving crank baits like the Rapalla Down Deep and the Fat
Free Shad. The color didn't matter much, most fish were caught on fire tiger
however.
8/27/02 Lake Delavan - Sunny, light winds, 75 degrees. Water temp 78 degrees.
Caught 6 walleyes - 2 legals, 5 northerns - 1 legal. The northern pike were caught
on suckers fished on lindy rigs in approximately 20 ft. of water. The best location
was the gray condos. As fall approaches, I use larger suckers for bigger fish.
The walleyes were caught on night crawlers and Smithwick jerk baits fished above
weeds. The best location was by the Village Supper Club.
8/25/02 Lake Delavan - Sunny, 80 degrees, winds were light. Water temp 76
degrees. Caught 25 walleyes, no legals. All the action came on drifting
nightcrawlers in 22 ft. of water. Basically, trolled or drifted the entire south
shore.
8/24/02 Lake Geneva - Cloudy, 75 degrees, calm winds. Water temp 77 degrees.
Caught 4 northerns, 5 small mouth bass and 2 large mouth bass- 2 legals. The
northerns were caught by Covenant Harbor in 35 ft. of water on lindy rigged suckers. At
this spot we also caught 3 small mouth on suckers in 35 ft. of water. The large
mouth were caught by Linn Pier in 8-10 ft. of water.
8/20/02 Lake Geneva- Sunny, 70 degrees, SE winds at 15 mph. Water temp 77 degrees.
Caught 3 northerns, 1 large mouth bass (3 pounds) and many panfish. The northern
pike were caught in 38 ft. of water, by Covenant Harbor, using chubs on a lindy rig.
The large mouth and panfish were caught in 12 ft. of water by Linn Pier.
8/18/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny, 65 degrees, winds were 10 mph out of the NW. Water temp
78 degrees. Caught 7 northerns and 2 large mouth bass plus a load of panfish.
The best action for northerns was in 35-38 ft of water, using lindy rigged suckers
on the north shore of the narrows. The large mouth bass were caught in 13 ft. of
water near Abbey Springs. Fishing after the cold front was tough.
8/17/02 Lake Geneva - Cloudy with thunderstorms, 70 degrees, very windy out of the South
at 15-20 mph. Water temp 79 degrees. It was an ugly day. Fished for
about 2 hours. Caught 2 small mouth, 1 large mouth and a bunch of panfish.
Fished near Abbey Springs and Linn Pier. The best depth was 10-11 ft. of
water. Used primarily night crawlers on the split shot. Was going to try for
northerns, but ran out of time when the weather turned worse.
8/16/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny, 75 degrees, winds SW at 5 mph. Water temp 79
degrees. Caught 5 northerns, 4 large mouth, and a bunch of panfish. The
northern pike were caught on lindy rigges suckers in 38 ft. of water, fished the north
shore of the narrows. The large mouth were caught on night crawlers on a split shot
by Linn Pier in 13 ft. of water.
8/14/02 Delavan Lake - sunny, winds out of the SW at 10 mph, 80 degrees. Water temp
79 degrees. 1 northern, 1 walleye and 6 perch. Trolled crank baits in 22 ft.
of water. The fish were pretty inactive. There wasn't any spot better than
another.
8/11/02 Delavan Lake - sunny, 80 degrees, no wind. Water temp 79 degrees. Caught 2
northerns and 4 walleyes. Fished early morning casting crank baits along the
weedline. The northerns came off of large perch colored crank baits and the walleyes
came off of suspending Wally Divers. The best depth was about 17 ft. of water.
8/10/02 Delavan Lake - sunny, 75 degrees, winds out of the SW at 5 mph. Water temp
79 degrees. Caught 20 walleyes. Used crank baits along the weed lines.
The best depth was 17 ft. of water. All of the fish came early in the morning.
No legal fish were caught.
8/8/02 Lake Geneva - sunny, 90 degrees, winds were light. Water temp 80 degrees.
Caught 8 northerns, the largest was 31 inches. All were caught on lindy
rigged suckers. I fished the bar in Williams Bay in 35 ft. of water.
8/7/02 Delavan Lake - mostly sunny, 75 degrees, NE wind at 5 mph. Water temp 79
degrees. Caught 4 northerns, 7 walleyes and 1 large mouth bass. Started
fishing northerns in 20 ft. of water, fishing was a bit slow for the pike. All
of the walleyes were caught in the last 1/2 hour of daylight. Nightcrawlers fished
on a split shot rig slowly drifted seemed to be the most effective approach. The
walleyes were caught near Delmar in 20-23 ft. of water.
8/4/02 Lake Geneva - cloudy, scattered rain, 80 degrees, winds were light out of the
SW. Water temp 80 degrees. Caught 2 northerns, 3 large mouth and a bunch of
pan fish. Fished near Abbey Springs and Black Point for bass but without success.
The only place for bass today was near Linn Pier in 9-10 ft. of water. All
bass were caught fishing night crawlers on the split shot rig. The northern pike
came out of 38 ft. of water, near the bar in Williams Bay. All fish were caught on
chubs.
8/3/02 Lake Geneva - sunny, 85 degrees, winds NE at 5 mph. Water temp 80 degrees.
Caught 6 northern, 5 large mouth bass and a load of pan fish. The bass were
caught on night crawlers fished with the split shot rig in 13-14 ft. of water near Abbey
Springs. The northerns were caught on the north shore of the narrows in 35 ft. of
water.
8/2/02 P.M. - Lake Delavan - sunny, 84 degrees, winds NE at 5 mph. Water temp 82
degrees. Caught 7 northerns, 1-33 inches, 3 walleyes, 1small mouth and 3 large
mouth. Northerns were caught on lindy rigged suckers near the gray condos, the best
depth was 24 ft. of water. The rest of the fish were caught on the weed line near
Delmar subdivison park.
8/2/02 A.M. - Lake Geneva - sunny, 80 degrees, winds NE at 5 mph. Water temp
81 degrees. Caught 19 northerns, 1 was 34 inches and 1- 19 inch small mouth.
Fished the bar in Williams Bay in 35-36 ft. of water and the north shore of the
narrows. The fish were caught in 33-36 ft. of water. All fish were caught on
chubs.
8/1/02 Delavan Lake - cloudy 95 degrees, thunderstorms, wind SW at 15 mph.
Water temp 81 degrees. Fished a couple of hours in the evening trolling crank baits
for walleyes. All that was caught was one crappie, thunderstorms chased us off
the lake twice.
7/31/02 Lake Geneva - sunny, 90 degrees, humid, S wind at 15 mph. Water temp
81 degrees. Caught 9 northerns. Fished the bar in Williams Bay and the north
shore in the narrows. The best depth was 35 ft. Fished lindy rigged
suckers and chubs.
7/30/02 Lake Geneva - sunny, 92 degrees & humid. SW winds at 15 mph.
Water temp 81 degrees. Caught 10 northerns - 1at 35 inches. Fished the north
shore of the narrows in 35 ft. of water. The best bait was a lindy rigged
sucker. Fished only in the evening.
7/28/02 Lake Delavan - partly cloudy, 85 degrees, winds SW at 5 mph. Water temp 79
degrees. Caught 1 northern, 5 large mouth, 20 crappies and 10 bluegills. The
northern was caught by trolling a crank bait, shad rap, near Browns Channel.
The crappies were caught on small plastics, motor oil was the best color. The best
depth was 15 ft. of water, right on bottom. The best location was by the Yacht
Club. The bluegills were caught on hellgrammites fished on slip bobbers fished in
17-18 ft. of water. The best location was near the Island and by the Yacht Club.
7/27/02 Lake Geneva - cloudy, light rain, 72 degrees, winds out of the South at 20
mph. Water temp 78 degrees. Caught 8 northerns, 2 large mouth and a handful of
panfish. The bass were caught by Linn Pier in 13-14 ft. of water. The best
bait were night crawlers fished on a split shot rig. The northerns were caught in
the narrows in 34-36 ft. of water. The bait of choice were small suckers fished on a
lindy rig.
7/25/02 Delavan Lake - sunny, 74 degrees, winds SW at 5-10 mph. Water temp 78
degrees. Caught 4 walleyes, the biggest was 17 1/4 inches, 3 large mouth, 1 small
mouth, 12 bluegills and 3 crappies. Most of the fish were caught on night crawlers fished
on a lindy rig. The best depth was 23-24 ft. of water. The best location
was by the Del Mar weed line. The best presentation was slowly drifting.
7/24/02 Lake Geneva - sunny, 75 degrees, winds NE at 10 mph. Water temp 79
degrees. Caught 4 large mouth, 6 small mouth and a bunch of bluegills, rock bass and
perch. We drifted night crawlers in 13-14 ft. of water. We fished between
Elgin and Knollwood.
7/23/02 Lake Geneva - sunny, 75 degrees, winds NE at 15 mph. Water temp 79
degrees. Caught 8 northerns -1 at 34 inches, 3 large mouth bass and lots of panfish.
The fish were caught on lindy rigs fished with suckers, the best depth was 34 ft.
The bass and panfish were caught drifting nightcrawlers in 13-14 ft. of water,
between Elgin Club and Knollwood.
7/20/02 Lake Geneva - sunny, 89 degrees, winds were light. Water temp 79 degrees.
Caught 4 large mouth - 2 legal, a bunch of really nice 9-10 inch bluegills, and 10
northerns. The Pike were taken on the north shore of the narrows in 34 ft. of water.
All were caught on medium suckers fished on a lindy rig. The large mouth were
caught in 10-11 ft. of water off Fontana Beach. The bluegills were caught near
Knollwood piers in approximately 13 ft. of water.
7/18/02 Lake Geneva - sunny, 90 degrees, NE wind at 5 mph. Water temp 83 degrees.
Caught 6 large mouth- 2 legal, 3 small mouth - 1 legal, and 4 northerns. The
northerns were caught in 33 ft of water on the north shore, east of the narrows. All
fish were caught on medium suckers fished on a lindy rig. The bass were caught in
13-14 ft. of water, drifting from Elgin Club to Knollwood. All fish were caught on
night crawlers fished on a split shot rig.
7/17/02 Delavan Lake - sunny, 90 degrees, wind SW at 5 mph. Water temp 83
degrees. Caught 15 northerns, 1 legal 32 inches. We fished 19-24 ft of water
from Assembly Park to the Yacht club point. All fish were caught on a lindy rig with
sucker.
7/15/02 Delavan Lake - sunny, 89 degrees, winds light. Water temp 82 degrees.
Caught 7 northerns, 1 legal 32 inches, 5 broke off and 1 walleye. The pike were
caught by the gray condos near the Yacht club. The best depth was 24 ft. of
water. I used lindy rigs with suckers. The walleye was caught on a leech and
small jig in 18 ft. of water, near the Oriental boat house.
7/14/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny, 84 degrees, winds out of the SW at 5 mph. Water temp 77
degrees. Caught 7 northerns, 7 small mouth, 2 large mouth bass, and a dozen rock
bass and bluegills. The small mouth were in 14 ft of water by Linn Pier. All
were caught on night crawlers. One large mouth was caught by Coleman's Point and the
other was near Elgin Club. Both were caught in 12 ft. of water. The northerns
were caught on the north shore of the narrows in 30 ft. of water, using medium suckers.
7/13/02 Lake Delavan - Sunny, 80 degrees, winds light. Water temp 78 degrees.
Caught 3 large mouth, several nice perch, 15 crappies between 10 and 12 inches, and about
a dozen bluegills. The crappies were caught on small plastics, motor oil seemed to
be the best color. The bluegills and perch were caught on leaf worms fished on a
slip bobber. The best depth was 15-17 ft of water. We fished in front of Lake
Lawn Lodge and by the Yacht Club.
7/12/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny, 81 degrees, winds E at 10-15 mph. Water temp 77
degrees. Caught 9 northerns, 1 legal. The best depth was 30-35 ft of water.
Fished the north shore of the narrows. All fish were taken on lindy rigged
medium suckers.
7/9/02 Lake Delavan - Partly Cloudy, 75 degrees, winds SE at 5 mph. Water temp 78
degrees. Caught 3 northerns, 5 walleyes. The trip was cut short due to a
thunderstorm. The northerns were caught on suckers near Browns Channel in 20 ft. of
water. The walleyes were all taken on lindy rigged leeches. The best depth was
right off the break in 15-17 ft. of water.
7/7/02 Lake Como - Sunny, 90 degrees, winds light out of the west. Water temp 84
degrees. Caught 17 large mouth. All the fish were taken by flipping docks.
The fish were caught on night crawlers and Icon worms. The best docks had
about 3 ft. of water underneath them. With the high skies, the shady locations were
the key to success.
7/5/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny, 75 degrees, winds NE at 10-15 mph. Water temp 80
degrees. Caught 5 large mouth, 2 small mouth, several rock bass and bluegills.
Fishing was tough due to the cold front. The best depth seemed to be 10-12 ft
of water. Caught the large mouth bass at Knollwood, Abbey Springs and Coleman's
Point. The small mouth came out of 15 ft of water fishing by Linn Pier. All
fish were caught by split shotting night crawlers.
7/4/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny, 91 degrees, winds SW at 5 mph. Water temp 80 degrees.
Caught 12 large mouth, 15 crappies and a bunch of bluegills and rock bass. We
fished anywhere from 8-14 ft of water. The large mouth were caught by Coleman's
Point, Knollwood and Trinkes. All the fish were taken while drifting night crawlers
on the split shot rig.
7/3/02 Delavan Lake - Sunny, 90 degrees, winds SW at 10 mph. Water temp 82
degrees. Caught 8 northerns - 1 that was 35 inches and several perch and bluegills..
Fished lindy rig suckers by the gray condo's and by Browns Channel. The best
depth was 19 ft of water. The perch and bluegills were caught by drifting night
crawlers on the split shot rig. The best depth was 17 feet.
7/2/02 Delavan Lake - Sunny, 90 degrees, winds NW at 10-15 mph. Water temp 81
degrees. Caught 15 northerns - 2 legal, 4 walleyes and a few perch and bluegills.
Northerns were caught by the gray condo's in 24-25 ft of water. All the fish
were caught on suckers fished on a lindy rig. The walleyes were caught in front of
Lake Lawn Lodge in 18 ft. of water. All were caught on night crawlers.
7/1/02 Delavan Lake - Sunny, 90 degrees, winds SW at 15 mph. Water temp 81
degrees. Caught 9 northerns, 7 walleyes, 1 small mouth. The northerns were
caught by the gray condo's in 20 ft. of water. A lindy rig with a medium sucker was
the bait of choice. The walleyes were caught by Assembly Park, drifting from 16 - 23
ft of water. All were caught on night crawlers.
6/30/02 Delavan Lake - Sunny 85 degrees, winds out of the SW at 5-10 mph.
Water temp 79 degrees. Caught 9 northern pike, 2 legal, 2 walleyes and 20 perch and
bluegill. Drifted in front of Lake Lawn Lodge, 17 - 21 feet of water. Fish
were caught Lindy rigging and using the split shot with a number 5 round
sinker. The best baits were night crawlers or large leeches. Some of the
bluegills were 11 inches. Northern Pike were caught on the weedline break in front
of the Yacht Club in 19-23 feet of water, lindy rigging 6 inch suckers. Like always,
boat traffic was heavy.
6/29/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny, 88 degrees, winds out of the SW at 5 mph. Water temp 78
degrees. Caught 9 large mouth all legal. The best action was at Trinkes in
12-13 feet of water. Geneva Bay and Knollwood produced no fish. Caught loads
of rock bass and nice bluegills along with the bass. Night crawlers on a split shot
was the bait of choice.
6/28/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny, 90 degrees, winds out of SW at 5 mph. Water temp 78
degrees. Caught 4 large mouth, 1 small mouth and about a dozen rock bass. The
large mouth were taken in Williams Bay in 9 feet of water, the small mouth was caught by
Knollwood in 13 ft of water. Fished the split shot rig with a night crawler.
Tried Geneva Bay and Trinkes without a lot of success.
6/26/02 Lake Geneva - Partly Cloudy, 80 degrees, no wind, water temp 77 degrees.
Fishing was tough due to a cold front passing through overnight. Caught 2 large
mouth, 1 legal - 4 others broke off - very few panfish. The best spot was by
Covenant Harbor in 10 ft of water. Tried Williams Bay, Trinkes, and Geneva Bay
without success. Fished night crawlers on a split shot rig.
6/25/02 Lake Geneva - Partly Cloudy, 90 degrees and humid, water temp 78 degrees.
Caught 22 large mouth, 20 legal ones. All of the fish were caught in Williams Bay in
9-11 feet of water. The best bait were night crawlers or small plastic worms.
6/24/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny, 90 degrees, no winds, water temp 77 degrees. Caught 16
large mouth, 4 small mouth and a few rock bass and bluegills. The small mouth were
caught near Linn Pier in 16 ft of water off the break. All the fish were caught on
night crawlers. The large mouth were caught at Colemans point and Williams Bay, the
best depth was 9-10 feet of water.
6/23/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny, 85 degrees, winds out of the SW at 10 mph. Water temp
72 degrees. Caught 2 large mouth and a few rock bass. Fishing was lousy today
for no apparent reason. The large mouth were caught in Trinkes Bay in 11 feet of
water. We fished numerous spots all over the lake and couldn't find any active fish.
6/22/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny, 87 degrees, winds out of the west at 5 mph. Water temp
71 degrees. Caught 12 large mouth, 9 legal, and 3 small mouth, all legal.
Fished Williams Bay in 9-10 feet of water for all of the large mouth. Fished
exclusively night crawlers. The small mouth bass were caught east of Knollwood in 13
ft of water. The fish were caught on night crawlers on the split shot rig.
6/21/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny with scattered thuderstorms, temp 90 degrees. Water temp
71 degrees. Caught 20 large mouth, 15 legal. All of the fish were caught in
Williams Bay in 9-12 feet of water. Most of the fish were caught on night
crawlers. Small plastic, motor oil worms were also effective.
6/20/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny, 85 degrees, winds were light out of the SW. Water temp
71 degrees. Caught 4 small mouth, 4 large mouth. The small mouth were caught
in 13 feet of water on night crawlers fished on a split shot rig. The best spot was
by Knollwood and the Military Academy. The large mouth were caught in 8-10 ft of
water in Trinkes bay. All fish were caught on night crawlers.
6/19/02 Lake Delavan - cloudy, W wind at 10 mph. 85 degrees. Water temp 71
degrees. Caught 1 small mouth, and 45 crappies. Tried Walleye fishing by
Brown's Channel with no success The one small mouth was caught on a night crawler in
15 ft of water, just west of the Village Supper Club. The crappies were all caught
on plastics, purple and yellow were the best colors. Fished north shore docks in the
8-10 ft weeds. Caught a lot of small ones.
6/16/02 Lake Delavan - Sunny 65 degrees, winds were light out of the west. Water
temp 66 degrees. Caught 3 walleyes and 2 crappies. The walleyes were caught in
17 feet of water fishing lindy rigs with leeches. The crappies were shallow. I
was fishing spots near Delmar subdivision.
6/15/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny 70 degrees, winds out of the west at 10 mph. Water temp
65 degrees. Caught 5 large mouth, all legal, 4 small mouth and a load of rock
bass. All the fish were caught using a nightcrawler on a split shot rig. I
fished anywhere from 9-14 feet of water. The small mouth were caught near Lynn pier
and the Large mouth were caught in Trinkies Bay. All the fish caught were post-
spawn.
6/12/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny 80 degrees, winds calm to 15 mph out of the west. Water temp
65 degrees. Caught 9 small mouth, 3 large mouth and lots of rock bass. The
small mouth bass were caught near the Elgin Club in 11-12 feet of water. Caught all
of the fish on nightcrawlers fished on a split shot rig.
6/9/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny, 80 degrees, calm. Water temp 63 degrees. Caught 3
large mouth bass, all legal, 50+ rock bass and 1 crappie weighing in at 1.5 pounds.
Fished 12-14 feet of water. Caught 1 bass at Lynn Pier, 1 at Trinkes and 1 at the
Peterson Mansion. Fishing was again tough. Caught most of the fish on
nightcrawlers. Tried leeches to see if the small mouth bass would take them better,
but no dice. My best spot at Elgin Club yesterday, produced only a couple of rock
bass. Caught several rock bass and the large crappie on a small hair jig, fished just off
bottom.
6/8/02 Lake Geneva - Sunny, 80 degrees, 12 mph winds out of the SW. Water temp 62
degrees. Caught 2 small mouth, and a multitude of rock bass and blue gills.
Fishing was rather slow, the best spot was the Elgin Club in 10-12 feet of water.
Fished exclusively night crawlers on the split shot rig. Tried the Military Academy,
Knollwood, Coleman's Point and Belvidere Park with no success for small mouth, although
the pan fish were there. All the fish seemed to be short hitting.
6/4/02 Delavan Lake - Cloudy, light rain, wind NW at 5 mph. Water temp 63
degrees. Caught 26 largemouth, 2 walleyes, 1 northern and 30 bluegills. Fished
in the evening. All of the fish were caught on nightcrawlers on split shot rig.
The fish were in 4 feet of water, associating to rock rip rap. Due to the
heavy rains, I wanted the cancel this guide trip - I'm sure glad I didn't.
6/1/02 Lake Geneva - Afternoon - sunny 88 degrees, west winds at 15 mph, water temp 60
degrees. Caught 2 large mouth and 50 rock bass. Fished the north shore from
Knollwood past the Elgin Club. The best depth was 12-13 feet. Boat traffic and
high winds made the lake very hard to fish. The best bait were nightcrawlers fished
on the single hook split shot rig.
6/1/02 Lake Geneva - Morning - sunny 88 degrees, calm winds, water temp 60 degrees.
Caught lots and lots of rock bass, bluegills, and perch. The best bait were night
crawlers and large fathead minnows. I fished all over the lake with the same
success. Tried for large mouth bass in Geneva Bay and only caught rock bass.
5/31/02 Delavan Lake - sunny, 85 degrees, winds 10 mph out of the west. Water temp
63 degrees. Caught 2 large mouth, 1 small mouth, 20-30 bluegills, and 3
crappies. Small and large mouth bass were caught on nightcrawlers in 3-5 feet of
water. The crappies were caught on small shiner minnows fished under a bobber in the
same area. I focused on the north shore docks. Fishing was a bit tough.
5/30/02 Delavan Lake - sunny, 85 degrees, winds out of the north at 5 mph. Water
temp 62 degrees. Caught 10 large mouth, 1 small mouth, 15 crappies and 12
bluegills. Fished nightcrawlers on split shot rigs in the shallows in 3-4 feet of
water on the north shore, around boat docks. Crappies were caught on small plastics,
purple seemed to be the best color. The crappies were in 5-6 feet of water.
Tried walleyes for an hour, but no luck.
5/26/02 Delavan Lake - Sunny, 62 degrees, winds out of the SW at 10-15 mph. Water
temp 55 degrees. Caught 2 large mouth, 1 small mouth, 1 northern and a few pan
fish. Fishing was very tough today, boat traffic was intense. Caught most of
our fish in Lake Lawn Harbor on the split shot rig with fat head minnows. The
smallie was caught on a main lake drop off in 12 feet of water, caught on a fat head
minnow.
5/25/02 Lake Geneva - Cloudy, driving rain, 45 degrees, winds out of the east at 15
mph. Caught 2 small mouth, both legal, and a few pan fish. Fishing was
miserable in the wind and rain. Both small mouth came off of Conference point in 15
feet of water. Used fat head minnows on the split shot rig.
5/24/02 Lake Delavan - Partly cloudy, 40 degrees, winds NE at 10-15 mph. Water temp
54 degrees. Caught 5 small mouth, 5 large mouth and 1 northern. Used fat head
minnows and night crawlers on the split shot rig (single hook, round split shot) The
fish came from 12-15 feet of water off the weed line on the North shore.
5/21/02 Lake Geneva Sunny, 55 degrees, winds SE 12 mph. 3 small mouth, 1
largemouth, 1 rock bass. Fished in the afternoon. Fish were caught in 12-14
feet of water. Fished all artificial lures, small hair jigs fishing for suspended
fish. Fished a multitude of spots. The main lake points seemed to hold most of
the minnows with the bass following.
5/20/02 Lake Geneva, cloudy, 45 degrees, winds 10-15 NE, water temp 50 degrees.
Caught 3 small mouths (2 legals), 1 northern, 1 rock bass. Fished the
afternoon. The small mouth caught were in 6-8 feet of water. Most of the fish
are in the 18-20 foot range or suspended. Cedar Point and Linn Pier produced all the
fish. Fathead minnows fished on the split-shot rig were used.
5/19/02 Lake Delavan - sunny, 40 degrees, water temp 54 degrees. Caught 3 small
bass and 20 bluegills. Caught the bass on nightcrawlers and the bluegills on
helgrammites. Fished the main lake boat docks on the north shore.
5/18/02 Lake Delavan - sunny and very cold, 37 degrees with winds out of the north a
10 mph. Water temp 53 degrees. Caught 2 bass, 18 1/2 inches and 17 inches, and
about 20 perch. The bass were caught on nightcrawlers, and the perch were caught on
small leaf worms. Fished around Lake Lawn.
5/14/02 Lake Como - Partly cloudy, wind out of the NW at 10 mph, temperature 60 degrees,
water temp 58 degrees. Caught 2 large mouth, 1 legal. Missed 4-5 others.
Fished the east end of the lake with white spinner baits and floating rattle traps. Missed
several fish on tubes and worms, flipping the bank. Fishing was slow.
5/11/02 Lake Delavan - raining, cold and windy. The winds were north at 15-20
mph. Air temp 45 degrees, water temp 55 degrees. An awesome cold front once
again. Caught two crappies and 1 bluegill in an hour and a half of fishing. It
was miserable out. Only 3 boats were fishing this afternoon.
5/10/02 Lake Delavan - sunny, 65 degrees, winds were out of the NW at 10 mph. Water
temp was 56 degrees. Caught 40 bluegills and crappies. Kept around 20.
Tried fishing large mouth by the outlet with night crawlers, but had no takers. Had
several short hitters. The bigger crappies were taken off main lake piers in 7-9
feet of water. Also fished by Lake Lawn. This was the best weather I fished in
all spring. The crappies kept all averaged 13 inches and 1 pound.
5/9/02 Lake Delavan - sunny, 55 degrees, and 30 mph winds out of the NW. Due to the
high winds, the lake was just not fishable.
5/7/02 Lake Como - sunny, temperature 55 degrees, winds out of the east at 15 mph.
Water temp was 63 degrees. The wind made the lake very difficult to fish. The
only spot I could fish was the far east end of the lake. I tried a split shot rig
with a worm, however this was difficult with the wind. Caught 1 19 inch large mouth
on a white spinner bait, lost two others by the side of the boat. Fished two hours
in the evening.
5/5/02 Lake Delavan - Sunny, winds out of the NW at 10-12 mph, air temp 70, water temp 57
on main lake, in the back channels 63 degrees. Caught 25 bluegills and 3
crappies. Crappies were caught in Lake Lawn Harbor in 3-4 feet of water using yellow
plastics. Bluegills were caught in 3 feet of water in the outlet. The best
bait was the single hook bobber rig fished with a leaf worm.
5/4/02 Lake Como - Sunny, winds out of the south at 10 mph, air temp 60, water temp 55
degrees. Caught 9 large mouth, 8 legal and 2 northerns. The best bait was a
white spinner bait or purple plastic worm. Fished exclusively the east end of lake
in 3-4 feet of water. The reed patches produced all of our fish. The biggest
large mouth was 2 1/2 pounds. The larger fish should be coming to spawn in the next
few weeks.
5/3/02 Lake Delavan - Sunny, 65 degrees, winds from the north at 10-15 mph. Water
temp 57 degrees on main lake. Caught 13 crappies, fished in Lake Lawn Harbor and in
front of Lake Lawn in the main lake. All the crappies were caught on small minnows
fished with bobbers, best depth on main lake was 8 feet. Fished about 2 hours in the
evening.
4/28/2002 Lake Geneva - Cloudy and rainy, 40 degrees, north wind at 15 mph.
Water temp 53 degrees. Caught 12 blue gills by Knollwood and in Williams Bay.
All were caught on the small red worm with single hook fished on a bobber. Fished
an hour or so. Caught all of the fish in 4-6 feet of water.
4/26/2002 Lake Delavan - Sunny 60 degrees, light winds out of the north. Water temp
55-56 degrees. Had a beautiful evening to fish, however the fish were not
cooperating. I struggled in Lake Lawn Harbor and by the boat launch channel. I
spent the rest of the evening cruising the shallows trying to locate fish for opening
weekend.
4/20/02 - Lake Delavan - Partly cloudy and cold, air temp 40 degrees, water temp in
the channel 58 degrees. Cold front conditions really slowed down the blue gill
bite. Was able to catch 12 in the boat launch channel. The best bait were leaf
worms fished on a single hook below a bobber in 3-4 feet of water. There were plenty
of people fishing in the channel.
4/17/02 - Lake Delavan - sunny, 80 degrees, light winds out of the North. Water temp
61 degrees in the channel. Caught 40 bluegills. Fished in the boat launch
channel in 3-4 feet of water. Best bait were wax worms and red worms, both fished
below a bobber.
March- Fished very sporadically, the best day was 20 crappies in Lake Lawn
Harbor. Never fished for more than 2 hours at a time due to the weather.
